a little more wisdom
Your dreams are more real than the conditions of the outside world. Like a Master Gardener, nurture them to life.
Many of us have been hypnotized by the world and our family belief systems that there is the “real world” and just plain old “fantasy”.
The “real world” looks something like this: you make just enough money to get by, you live at the whim of the government and the economy, you can’t become any more successful than those in your tribe, you have to follow all the rules, it’s more important to have security in life than passion, negative thinking is realistic, positive thinking is unrealistic and happiness is something you get if you’re lucky. Oh - and the outside world has more power over you than you do and things are done the way we do ‘em cuz that’s how it’s always been.
Sound familiar?
Guess what, everything I just wrote, and everything that many people still believe is just a story. Plain and simple. We believe a story, act on it and it comes true for us in our experience. Then, we tend to surround ourselves with like-minded people, who also believe the same story, and then BOOM - we are living proof that the story we tell ourselves is true and if we ever forget it, all the folks around us will be the first to remind us.
Being surrounded by like-minded people can be awesome - or - a major block to our dreams. It depends on what story the group is believing. If you believe the story above and hang out with folks who do too, then it will come true for you and the group.
But - if there is a Whisper within you, if there is a subtle nudge from within asking you to give up certainty, embrace Faith and step into the uncertainty of the unknown, then the group that believes the above story will try to convince you that you’re wrong. Not because you are wrong, of course. And not because they are bad people. They are just caught in the dream of the story that they tell themselves and you stepping out of that dream and following your own dream can be perceived as risky and potentially disastrous. So folks will do whatever they can to convince you otherwise, when they have bought into the story above.
There’s a new story we can tell ourselves. The story goes like this:
I am a unique expression of The Uni-verse. My gifts, talents and goals are unique; no one can do them the way that I can. It is my right as a human being who is alive and living right now to express those gifts. I feel called to a great adventure and I am willing to give is a resounding YES! I am here to Love and be Loved. I love myself enough to surround myself with people who also want to go on the adventure of life. I surround myself with like-minded dreamers, doers and journeyers. I love my tribe for their concern, but know that I find more certainty in embracing the unknown path of my dreams than I do staying home and staying safe. I know that The Uni-verse supports me at every step, and even though some steps may seem impossible to take, I will find a way to make one. I live in possibility. I take action to ground my dreams until they come true. I don’t have a deadline cuz’ this is my lifestyle. I am dreamer, a doer and a believer. I am here to be an expression of what’s possible. I no longer let the fear of the unknown hold me back. I trust myself; I trust The Uni-verse and I take steps daily outside of my comfort zone. I am here to shine my light so that those who are living their nightmare can see me living my dream and have hope. I am here to express my love, not hold it back. I am here to find my tribe of like-minded dreamers. And I will never stop because this is who I am. This is what my life is about.
Now - which story is true? The first one or the second one?
The truth is…. Whichever one you BELIEVE!
So, who is running the show today? Love or fear? And WHAT STORY are you telling yourself about what’s possible today? And based on that belief, what action are you taking?
Which story do you now WANT to tell? Which story WILL YOU TELL?
